  • Re: The future of advertising is ONLINE !

Well at the moment it is easy for small and large businesses to justify online advertising to themselves and the people they report and answer to. This is what it is all about at the end of the day. Online advertising allows us to monitor impressions and clicks and there is now an element of branding which has now been trhown into the mix as ...

  • RE: Is there a 'BRAD' for online?

Well, BRAD do now have an online media section at their new website called intelligencia. There are loads of websites that cover online but not a definitive list - even BRAD isn't a full list and certainly not for online media. You might want to try Myadbase too as this covers a fair number of media across all types. They only list UK and ...

  • RE: Will advertisers cut their spend?

Good point Kate. Even a hint of poor times and advertising takes a hit. I think traditional media will be hardest hit. I worked on magazines during the last recession and it hurt. Online ads will continue to work and most companies will be able to show response from decent tracking. This way they can justify spend and keep the powers happy. ...

  • RE: How to decide a budget for an on-line ad campaign?

Wow, how long is a piece of string and how long have you got? It very much depends on three main points:   1. Which market you are in 2. What your main objectives are 3. Do you want quick clicks or some awareness.   Online advertising is becoming more and more difficult to control and justify. It may the fastest growing media, but ...

  • RE: Advice

Hello Dan When you say 'Media sales' Do you mean advertising space sales? You also mention account management so I suppose you want to join an agency or gain experience through media buying rather than sales. If you want to register as a freelance advertising sales person, the site at Myadbase has the biggest database. If you need advice ...

  • RE: NFL a top 5 UK sport?

Top 5? - maybe not - Is rugby Union a top 5 sport in the US? - not now but watch out. It may not have set the world on fire over here, but as far as online media goes there are media publishers and players who believe that American sports are already big in the UK - It's just a rather select group at the moment. Our business (as an online ...

  • RE: RE: Do online banner adverts still work?

Interesting Jacquie. I don't think you are alone, although I think it is almost a sub-concious effort (if that makes any sense) for use not to click on banners. The simple banner ads that actually relate to material and content on the page, as well as a design that blends in with the surroundings and colour scheme of the site seem to work ...

  • Do magazine adverts really generate web traffic?

I've seen a number of adverts in the PC press recently, where the main objective  is to get people to read the ad and then go to a website for more information. I remember this happening a number of years ago, but I would have thought that suppliers would now be concentrating on generating web traffic from online resources instead. So ...

  • RE: Media agencies & word of mouth on the web

As long as the 'talking up' is genuine and not incentivised. if it is genuine than why not.  An obvious idea but one that can work well. The majority of people tend to believe the reccomendations of others, especially if the target audience is the right one. Advertising Agencies - in the UK and Ireland

  • RE: Media Jobs looking for fresh blood?

You could always go freelance and earn commission only on specific projects from UK publishers. If you register at myadbase.com you will be notified of projects coming up. This will then give you the freedom to choose which project is right for you. More importantly, a freelancer can work on a part time basis, as long as they make it clear to the ...
