guys, makes me wonder why the fastest growing age group on facebook are 39-45 yr olds and whether their motivations to use fb/other social media are fundamentally different from the 'kids'.

Experts should rather contextualize the decline of local media in wider shift in media organizations. Look as this post by Jeff Jarvis http://www.buzzmachine.com/2008/11/24/a-scenario-for-news/ and one can easily make the argument, that media ownership regulation is not the issue, but local media business and editorial models are.

Puzzling. Moral panic over the lack of control when it comes to new technology is usually the domain of politicians and policy makers. It's kinda _not_ cool when creative industries feel like they need to jump onto this particular bandwagon.
