At the end of the day she said it in a way that was influenced by how it is used in music. Hence her saying that her friends often say it, most likely in mocking the whole gangsta rap machismo thing.
Ultimately this does not make it ok but if one is to truly trace the blame then it lies with the mediums that still purport the use of the word ...
