Best and worst of PR stunts

Hi, doing a Uni project on what makes a good PR stunt and wanted to get some response from people online, any specific ideas of individual stunts you think have been either brilliant or just terrible??

    Cheers for the help

Honda's "Live" TV advert was one of the better examples this year. It was supported with TVC, print and online. It was all about a Parachutist jump to launch the new Accord.

Red Bull have numerous examples... arguably the whole Air Race thing is one big PR stunt!

Check out this blog by Dare (I don't work at Dare btw!)

    http://trendplanner.com/2008/11/14/this-is-an-ad/

It's called 'This is an ad' and should give you some great examples of a few stunts and exactly who they were actually an ad for.

For Big time check out some of the viral campaign for the Dark Knight, for small time; at my agency we once got sent a blood stained cricket bat with a CV on from a freelancer, taking inspiration from the then recent Shaun of the Dead, suffice to say he got some work.

    Good Luck!

    Hey Tom,

Check out this list, it's titled The Publicity Stunt Hall of Fame, and contains some of the most successful (and the most interesting) PR stunts ever:

I'm sure you'll find something in there to pique your interest!

As for terrible stunts, they're usually the ones which backfire on the company (or individual), the bad ones you just don't hear about. Try this one for size... http://www.nytimes.com/2003/02/07/nyregion/07GUNS.html
