    Will you be watching Minder?

Channel Five is reviving classic 80s TV series 'Minder' with former Eastender's actor Shane Ritchie as Arthur Daley's nephew Archie.

Will you be tuning in or is it a sign programme makers are revisiting old hits in the absence of new ideas? What shows from the past would you like to see remade and who should play the roles made famous by George Cole and Dennis Waterman?

No one can replace George Cole - he's a TV legend and that was his role. I predict Shane Ritchie is going to be as good and convincing at this as Gordon Brown is at being PM

This sounds like a tough one to remake and Shane Ritchie is an acquired taste, but Minder wasn't exactly Masterpiece Theatre in the first place so the bar isn't exactly set that high.

So far the only decent remakes have been things like Battlestar Galactica - awesome in the extreme, others have been more hit and miss.

They redid the Professionals in 1999 as CI5: The New Professionals - but that ran for 13 episodes and then it was gone.

This doesn't exactly bode well for the remake of late 1970s early 80s show Blake's 7 which Sky are also doing.

I'm surprised they haven't tried remaking the Sweeney.

Wasn't exactly Masterpiece Theatre?! It was brilliant - so well-crafted and acted (Gary Webster's contribution notwithstanding). Seriously, watch them on ITV4 - I think they made over 100 episiodes so great for a wet bank holiday weekend

I loved watching Minder as a kid growing up in the 80s but a remake doesn't excite me. Minder was very much of its time but is still watchable so I'd rather watch the re-runs. And the prospect of Shane Ritchie doesn't appeal.
