How to get Advertising. Our Mag needs help!

We run the Other Side Magazine

    http://www.brandrepublic.com/News/801569/Free-magazine-launches-online-community-Northern-Line/

it's going great, we started printing 150 copies on a photocopier and now print 5000, have a big online community and seem to be loved by lots of London.

However, we need to gain some advertising, enough to cover our costs and make the Other Side continue in the way it is. Nobody wants to see something they love disapear.

So how do we go about it? Who do we contact? We'd be happy to have someone come on board and get their hands mucky in a little independant project that we know has got enough to go a very long way.

take a look at our site www.theothersidemag.co.uk and see what you think, any thoughts, ideas would be very welcome.

    Thanks

    Sam

Sorry - but as a potential advertiser it seems to me to be just pages of pretentious, over-wordy, adolescent comment - more redolent of a seventies rag mag than a real magazine.

And as a potential advertiser you'd have to start by convincing me with real figures that my view is insignificant...which "(we) seem to be loved by lots of London" really doesn't...

     Sorry (again).

This is the problem. People have become so used to being handed something they can just glance at and not have to think about that when something decent comes there way they react by claiming something is 'pretentious, over wordy, adolesecent comment.' Does it hurt that in your opinion it resembles a 70's rag mag? You should have seen it when we started out 150 copies photocopied black and white.

People are excited by this. The public are so used to this force fed norm now that this is how they react. You only have to come out with us when we hand the mag out to see the reaction of London's younger generation.

The real figures are 150 copies one year ago to 5000 today. 2000 monthly emails and since we launched our website a few months back 350 new members and upto 400 hits per day on the website. People writing in, commenting on the forums and getting themselves involved.

I realise the numbers don't come close to that of the London Lite or Paper but that's not the point. We don't want it to become something like that - we are here to produce something that is good and worthwhile. And to be perfectly honest the last thing it is is 'pretentious, over wordy, adolesecent comment.'
