We mean to have it, even if it must be burglary

News out this week that Uncle Monty's legendary cottage is up for sale. Sleddale Hall, a remote country farmhouse in Cumbria, is for sale at the humble guide price of £145,000.

In between picture researching wholesome country images for Warburtons, I'm desperately trying to find a way to buy it, do it up and make it into a lovely inspirational writers retreat. Or better still, a themed B & B for Withnail devotees or stag weekends. Working title: 'Monty’s', 'Scrubbers' or 'Come on holiday by mistake.' Any better suggestions?

Have you seen this group on Facebook? Definitely worth a look:

No i hadn't - thanks for sharing. Overlooking the owner's slightly lethargic spelling, I've joined the group. what's more impressive is the link to this heartfelt article:

The phrase 'selling hippie wigs in woolworths man' is this week imbued with a new kind of poignancy. I know there are more important things going on in the world but I'm  joining the Save Crow Crag campaign anyway, and I implore any other withnail obsessives to do the same... Especially you Obama. Great to have you on board.

The cause is really taking off now. there's now a dedicated website, www.savesleddalehall.com, and it's being endorsed by richard e. grant and ralph 'hair are your aerials' brown. there's even a documentary being made about it. Oh dear - news just in that Kate moss is putting in a bid. So now it would seem there's even more reason to joint the crow crag collective.
