I'm back in the UK for a little Christmas cheer and despite the jetlag and the fact it's bloody freezing the only other thing that's annoying me about being back is that the media (and presumably the viewing public) are more obsessed than ever before with reality TV.
The X List Factor, I'm Not Really a Celebrity, Strictly Boring etc. all seem to be as popular as ever despite the turgid formats and various phone-in scandals (apparently Ofcom are investigating last Saturday night finale to X Factor amidst reports that voters couldn't get through to vote for scary Welsh albino-imitator Rhydian).
And the insatiable desire for more derivatives seems endless. In the past year alone, new shows included Britains Got Talent, Any Dream Will Do, Grease Is The Word etc. etc. ad nauseum. How could you possibly forget quality like that ?
Actually I complained a few months ago about not being able to access the new ITV Broadband service or BBC's iPlayer from Singapore. To be honest, if this is the sort of content that is going to continue to pollute these channels then I'm actually pretty pleased I can't access the service. Bah humbug.
