One of the wonderful things about podcasts is that they have no set format; you can make them as long or as short as you like. I have always believe that there is a huge unfulfilled demand for things about 10 minutes long - not so boring as a programme, not so fleeting as an ad.
This is my current favourite -
The Oxford Dictionary of National Biography podcast
Click on the link (if you have i-Tunes) and, roughly every week, you'll receive a beautifully enunciated 10-minute biography of, well almost anyone. Like the Biography Channel, it is the juxtapositions that are so good - Dennis Thatcher next to Barry Sheene; Dr Crippen beside the first importer of the garden gnome.
Sheer joy.
One tip. Getting started with podcasts is a pain in the arse - and it is painfully difficult to share them with each other. But do persevere. It may seem a fiddle to subscribe but on a long flight or train journey in a month's time you'll be glad you did.
