Day 4 - heaven is a halfpipe
Today we were expecting the guy from the Hemp store, but he didn’t show. I guess that’s how those hemp dudes roll.
But we did meet the guys from lcb surfstore next door.
As well as serving some extraordinarily good coffee, they have a cracking business tending to all things surf/skate/snow. They have a half pipe downstairs in their shop (gnarly!) where they offer free skating tuition; they design unique balsa wood surf boards (awesome!) which are lighter, greener and harder wearing than regular boards; and they also have one of the biggest ranges of snow boarding gear in London (radical!). They organise skate events, show extreme sports films and even help surf dudes hook up with each other to share lifts down to Cornwall and the like. We’re looking at helping them leverage their fans and advocates in the digital space.
It’s also been a day of strange and wonderful passers by.
We had a palm reader drop in who, in truth, seemed more interested in us crossing his palm with silver than the efficacy of our communications. He left the shop £20 better off. Damn those Jedi mind tricks. We also welcomed in some charity workers, architects and a photographer to chat about our little project. And a very small lady who wanted to know where Sainsbury’s was.
Final day today, and then some drinks and show and tell at 6.30pm when the stallholders and traders will be back in to collect their wares from rckr/y&r local, accompanied by a frosty bottle of beer or two. Talking of a cold, crisp lager, it’s time to go.
A bientot.
