Blair's Bumper Book of Bullshit... Coming to a bookstore near you!

So old Tony is set to clear $10 million before he even puts pen to paper after a leading publisher agreed a deal to release his political memoirs. The ex-star of "The Queen," is estimated to earn about $10 million as an advance payment as part of the agreement, with Random House publishers.

The book is not expected to be published until late 2009 at the earliest – well after any general election expected to be called by "His Grimness," Gordon Brown. Mr Blair, who was finally dragged out of number ten, screaming and kicking, after ten years as prime minister, has said that his account will be "serious and thoughtful, but also entertaining".

Bloody Hell... And you can bet another $10 million it will be unapologetic about his conniving with Bush to land us in the continuing Iraq mess. Still, when he cocks up his job as Special Envoy to the Middle East, a few dollars might come in handy. Although, once he hits the big bucks speaking circuit and gets his seat on the Carlyle board, he won't be worrying where his next pint is coming from.

George, Blair won three elections. He didn't have to leave. People put him in office. Why should he cock up the middle east. He helped to bring peace to Northern Ireland. A major achievement.

Gordon... He will cock up in the Middle East because he is tainted by his association with Bush. There is no way he can be reguarded by arabs as impartial. He stood by while Israel bombed the shit out of Lebanon. And yes... He had to leave... Just as Thatcher had to leave. There comes a time in British politics when even your own party says... Enough is enough. Otherwise we will get hammered at the next election. Look at Howard in Oz... These people think they can go on forever. It's called delusions of grandeur. They can't help themselves. Blair will not be remembered for Northern Ireland... He will go down in history as "Bush's Poodle." Sad, but true.

Hmm, I think it's jumping on the bandwagon somewhat to wade into his Blairness in such a way. I think it's important to remember that unfortunately almost all (and definitely all successful) are imbued with raw, ruthless ambition that many of us find quite distastelful. Although Blairs particular brand of socialism was actually consumerism in disguise, paid for by increasingly available consumer debt, it's very possible to argue that he didn't do a bad job. I don't know about you but in these post Blair days I feel no happier with the political elite than I did 5 years ago.... is that just me?
