How very cynical - I'm sure the talented guys and girls at Hollyoaks will do a tremendous job. And come on, what about the hilarity when that Pudsey Bear fella gets involved in some special version of QI or Buzzcocks. A joke that never gets tired.

Good causes. I'll get that in first before someone has a pop at me. But lordy! Do they get the tone and pace wrong. It always positively creaks in places. I am, however, looking forward to the much trumpeted Peter Kay thingy.

The issue of keeping potentially dangerous animals as pets aside, Randy Newman wrote a wonderful song called 'Rednecks'. The chorus declared, "We don't know our ass from a hole in the ground." I don't think that is exclusive to any particular geographical region of the USA. Of course Sean, in Connecticut they do know their asses from a hole in the ground. It's where you keep your stick.

The Lapland New Forest thing was one of the funniest and brass-necked stories of last year, but not so funny if you had upset kids as a result of their greed and maliciousness. For some real wood - albeit dead - go and see what's appeared in Trafalgar Square this morning.

Sad times ... "tasteless voyeurism" is all the rage these days. Nice to see that laws put in place to protect people deemed to be at risk can be meddled with by rags such as The Guardian - I hope that they can justify the cost of such a campaign (in these tough economic times) on their balance sheet.
