Muslim women removed from camera shot at Obama rally

The continuing rumours circulating in the Blogosphere that Barack Obama is part of some absurd Muslim 'Manchurian Candidate' plot are now beginning to cause real problems - but only because over-eager Obama supporters have allowed them to.

A group of Obama volunteers have scored a real own goal after The Politico revealed that two women wearing headscarves were removed from behind the podium at an Obama rally in Detriot yesterday so they would be out of camera shot.

Apparently, volunteers removed the women at their own behest and the Obama campaign has at least moved quickly to apologise for their behaviour.

"This is of course not the policy of the campaign. It is offensive and counter to Obama's commitment to bring Americans together and simply not the kind of campaign we run," said Obama spokesman Bill Burton. "We sincerely apologize for the behavior of these volunteers."

It's both sad and tragic that the volunteers felt that the Muslim women could not appear in the same shot as Obama for political reasons.

Totally agree. That's pretty shameful behaviour
