Here’s a first look at Tottenham Hotspurs new stadium plans…

So what can fans look forward to?

According the club the new stadium will put the fans closer to the action and a roof which will host four large screens in the top corners. There will be a club museum – probably without a trophy cabinet - and shops.

You just can’t build a stadium today without a naming rights partner and Tottenham is no exception.

In October Chairman Daniel Levy confirmed that – like Everton which is also planning a new stadium – the club would aim to secure a partner for the club’s new ground.

The key to naming rights is that the name must be snappy or fans and the press simply won’t use it.

North London rivals have Emirates, which works. The Friends Provident St Mary’s Stadium does not. And neither did the BT Cellnet Riverside Stadium.

Often the stadium naming rights parter is the same as the shirt sponsors. Take Bolton and Reebok for example.

But with Spurs shirt sponsors Mansion is in its final year with the club and with online gaming companies seemingly beating a retreat from football sponsorship it is an unlikely partner in the future.

As a fan who attends matches at White Hart Lane it's hard to judge the new stadium plans without seeing the inside. I'm hoping it's not another soulless bowl like the Emirates. The Premier League has enough of these identikit stadiums. The idea of being close to the action like it is at WHL sounds good though.

The club haven't secured funding from the banks yet or found a sponsor. Given the global economy and Tottenham's league position, I'm not holding my breath on the club getting a new stadium any time soon.

"another soulless bowl like the Emirates"

Spoken like a true spurs fan, bitter till the end.

When Spurs are sharing the Emirates and Daniel Levy is being shaken upside down to relieve him of the last coppers in his pockets, I'll remember those harsh words.

Not bitter, just struggle to hear any atmosphere when I go there.

A ground share at the Emirates will never happen but if it did at least the Emirates would get to experience a full stadium singing in unison for the first time.

It does hold a startling resemblence to the Emirates. Shame Mansion are backing away from their football sponsorship. "I was at the Mansion last week when Modric scored that hatrick that knocked Arsenal out of the Champions League" has quite a nice ring to it...

why would a stadium that gets fans closer to the action need four massive tv screens?!

Tom, you've gone mad. Modric couldn't score at a brothel - a hat trick - you're skirting with the bounds of reality.

Darren - where else are you going to play while your stadium is built, Upton Park?

The best of luck.

Ed's right - the Library does sound about right. Speaking of which I hear wew have learnt from the Library's mistakes and are going to great lengths to ensure that the acoustics turn the new stadium into the most initmidating away fixture for the rest of the PL
