Many congratulations to Chartered Institute of Marketing member Mark Hunter, who won Gold in the Double Scull rowing last week and to Rebecca Romero, who won Gold in the women’s individual pursuit cycling and is a graduate of the CAM Foundation, a subsidiary of The Chartered Institute of Marketing. Romero holds a diploma in marketing communications from The Institute.

With that in mind, I’m pretty sure that at some point in the near future each of us will be sat in the pub with some mates, drunk and utterly convinced that with some serious dedication we could be among the medallists in London in four years time.

Personally, I think the 10m pistol shooting looks a bit of doddle or the dressage seems pretty easy if the horse is any good - does the horse have to be the same nationality as the rider?

Anyway, let me know what you’ll be winning in 2012…

Congratulations indeed - great performance. By the BBC's ridiculous reckoning, if the marketing industry was a country it would have won more medals than South Africa (see Ed Kemp On Sports Marketing passim)

Incidentally, I think you're being a bit harsh on pistol shooting. I'd like to win at shooting - 12 bore, not pistol though, but the best I could hope for is a catch similar to Israel...

If you work for the BBC it seems mandatory to attend the Olympics no matter what you do judging by what I've seen and heard on their TV, online and radio coverage.

I think with the right training Peter Kenyon could take on Usain Bolt over 100m. I'm surprised he hasn't been seen picking up a medal yet. Surely it's onlly a matter of time?

Ha! ...that's a very good point Darren! He's got some front that Kenyon...

That 10k open water swim didn't look too taxing - I mean, the water wasn't even cold!

I'm all in favour of bringing darts into the Olympic fold, GB would clean up. And it's not like it requires less skill than shooting or archery.

Don't be so bloody ignorant Alex. There is a great deal of skill involved in all of those sports. Did you not see JLC 180 on Sky One? I suggest you do.

Here's for GAA being introduced to the Olympics - the only chance we (Ireland) would ever really have at winning a gold. And even then the Aussies would prob beat us. Sigh.

I've got fairly big hands. Reckon I'm a shoe-in for the US 4x100 team purely by virtue of actually being able to hold onto a small metal stick.

The sack race for midgets. Think of peering eyes and stumpy fingers just about making it over the top of the bag and a 3ft warrior winning gold!
